Description
Aurin indicator (rosolic acid, peonine or red coralline) is one of the first artificial organic dyes of the triarylmethane series. It is poorly soluble in water, in acidic environment aurine solutions are colored yellow, in alkaline – in carmine red, it is used in analytical chemistry as an indicator, is part of the Hiss medium as an indicator of medium acidification during metabolism of carbohydrates by bacterial cultures.
