1-Naphthylamine or alpha-naphthylamine is an organic substance, a derivative of naphthalene, a primary amine with the formula C10H7-NH2 and a molecular weight of 143.18 g/mol.
Naphthylamines are colorless crystals, darkening in air, well soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, poorly soluble in water, distillable, distillable with water vapor.
Applications:
1-Naphthylamine is a semiproduct in the synthesis of azo dyes, a starting substance in the production of aminonaphthalene sulfonic acids, 1-naphthol, some herbicides and pigments.
